3D featuring singer/songwriter John Tamilio and bassist John Schuman to appear on
Saturday, June 1, 2019 @ The Middle East Restaurant,
472-480 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge
Massachusetts It's the reunion of bands who played Cantones, The Rat,
The Channel and The Club in Cambridge back in the 1980s and 1990s.
John Tamilio III, singer-songwriter-guitarist, is the remaining,
founding member of the Beverly-based Boston band 3D. 3D's re-emergence
has resulted in airplay on WMWM Salem, WZBC, Boston College radio,
Activate Media online and other area radio stations.
The
group was formed in 1984 and has undergone many incarnations over the
past few decades, with Tamilio and drummer Jim Lindroth as the two
mainstays.
Tamilio will be joined
by current 3D bassist John Schuman at the Middle East on June 1 to
celebrate the legacy of clubs where 3D played regularly throughout the
‘80s. This acoustic duo will play an array of 3D’s originals.
3D’s
latest single, available on Spotify and YouTube, is “Everything But
Peace,” a critical commentary on contemporary political and social
crises. It is due to appear on the forthcoming edition of Boston Rock
‘n’ Roll Anthology (Varulven Records). Their first hit, “A a Bit Like
You,” was featured on volume eight of the Anthology series.
The
band is currently working with producer Greg Dann, compiling new
recording of their catalogue at Rockpile Recording Studio in Rockport,
Massachusetts.

Some lyrics from the tune:
It’s the final lines in the outro that put the opioid crisis front and center:
The pushers are all around us
They’ve could be anyone you meet
Our children are dying from overdose
We’ve got everything but peace
Our children are dying from overdose
We’ve got everything but peace
Our children are dying from overdose
Fifty years ago John Lennon asked the world to “give peace a chance.” They should have listened. Fifty years later Reverend John Tamilio is preaching that we’ve got everything but peace…it’s time to really and truly give it – peace – that chance.
